Eyes Open

So I only like just realized that on Snow Patrol's new album (which is very good by the way, as is Keane's new album) that there is a track called Shut Your Eyes that is followed later in the album by a track called Open Your Eyes. Anyway I thought that was slightly interesting, I mean there is a track called Hands Open, but where's Hands Closed dammit?!?! Maybe it will be a b-side...

68% of gamers watch Family Guy

According to a survey by IGN Entertainment’s GamerMetrics and Research Solutions, 68% of gamers watch Family Guy. The research shows that the game-playing population generally prefer to watch animated and comic-based entertainment than realistic TV and movies. 64% watch The Simpsons and 51% South Park. However, just 26% watch Lost and (amusingly) 24% 24.

To Mr Muffett:

I wrote a song for you, and all the things you do, and it was called yellow

The music really cut through me like a knife at the funeral, Coldplay Yellow and Greenday with the ironically titled Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life). It makes you think what you would want played at your own funeral, Lose You by Pete Yorn I thought, or maybe Fix You by Coldplay, but shit I don't know. The music brings us together in a way like no other.

Who Let The Dogs Out?

If you haven't heard the hilarious story yet or just want to hear it again and mock me, then carry on reading;

Yes Embrace were amazing, Morning Runner were suitably legendary too but before them, and before that band we thought were rubbish and also before the hotdogs there was getting in to the damn gig. We had the tickets, so all that stopped us from getting into the gig was Cerberus. Okay fine it was a passive drugs dog and it only had one head. But yeah, the dog thought I was carrying some stuff, fuck I don't even know what said stuff is and I don't want to. I had to empty my pockets for a cop (a similar event occurred when Alex and I saw Feeder at the National Indoor Arena). I resented giving them my name and address, when I hadn't even committed a crime, but there you go...It had to happen to somebody, so laugh it up.

Note: An alternative title for this post was "The Drugs Don't Work, Not That You Have Any"

It Burns

The power of the sun never ceases to amaze me (when I was a kid I used to make fire from a magnifying glass and plot to burn peoples homes down). I got a little burnt from going to the coast on Monday. Well, I will have my revenge one day you mere star

There Is Nothing

This is the tri-annual 'me telling you I have nothing to post spectacular' Which, will, inevitably be shortly followed by several posts.

Sandi didn't broadcast to 100,000 people

The Following is a review (by someone else) of Smile...It Confuses People the debut album by Sandi Thom
Reviewer: I can sing 4,000 songs from memory

It's all a lie, a big media hype-fest. The cost of broadcasting video to 100,000 people is huge. Sandi Thom wasn't discovered as a result of her mythical (and non-existent) 'webcasts', which nobody actually watched - she ALREADY had a record contract months before any of this hype started. Do you know anybody who actually watched one of these 'webcasts'? 100,000 people is a lot of people. How come there was no media hype on the internet while this alleged 'interest' was happening?
Sandi Thom is a female James Blunt. Her song 'I wish I was a punk rocker' is atrocious, and she can't sing particularly well. Her record lable decided to lie about 100,000 people watching her on the internet, and they have been easily found out - it's all over the 'net. The maths and costs prove it was impossible, and there are no records of this 'webcast' ever having taken place to 100,000 people (which would certainly leave its mark on the various servers involved in shifting such a huge amount of data on one particular night).
This disgusting story shows just how dishonest the record companies are - don't buy this rubbish, and don't buy any of their other rubbish either. Maybe then they'll learn to stop treating their customers like idiots (by blatantly lying to us) and stop calling music 'product'. Pony-tailed tossers. -From Amazon.co.uk

Paul Ellis - The World Ain't Slowing Down

I found you sitting on a suitcase crying
Beneath my feet,
I feel the rumble of a subway train
I laugh out loud,
'cause it's the one thing I hadn't been trying
The train came in breathless,
The passanger's restless
You say, "Baby, you'll never change"

You gotta get gone, you gotta get going
Hey, the world ain't slowing down for no one
It's a carnival callin out to you
It sounds like a song,
Hits you like scripture
You paint the picture
With colors squeezed from your hand
Weren't you the kid
Who just climbed on the merry-go-round
Hey look, the world ain't slowing down
Hey, hey, the world ain't slowing down
Hey, hey...

Out on the sidewalk,
Pigeon's do the moonwalk
I'll be dancing like Fred Astaire
The lamppost's are rockin,
The whole town's talkin
Like a fool in a barber's chair
And I get the sensation,
The joy and fustration
Like being caught by a tropical rain
Freedom can numb you,
When there's no place to run to
It feels just like Novocane

You gotta get gone, you gotta get going
Hey the world ain't slowin down for no one
It's a carnival callin out to you
(it's callin out to you)
It sounds like a song,
Hits you like scripture
You paint the picture
With colors squeezed from your hand
Weren't you the kid
Who just climbed on the merry-go-round
Hey look, the world ain't slowin down
Hey, hey, the world ain't slowing down
Hey, hey...

You packed up all your handbags,
Throwing off the sandbags
I let go and you stepped free
I didn't want to loose you
You said, "You didn't choose to,
It's just how your karma came."
But thanks for the vision,
And the twenty-twenty wisdom
It hit me like a south-bound train

You gotta get gone, you gotta get going
Hey the world ain't slowin down for no one
It's a carnival callin out to you
(it's callin out to you)
It sounds like a song,
Hits you like scripture
You paint the picture
With colors squeezed from your hand
Weren't you the kid
Who just climbed on the merry-go--
Weren't you the kid
Who just climbed on the merry-go--
Weren't you the kid
Who just climbed on the merry-go-round
Hey look, the world ain't slowin down
Hey, hey, the world ain't slowin down
Hey, hey, it's a big, blue world
It's a big, blue world
Ridin' on a big, blue world
